Is it me...or is aussie rules less violent than it used to be?

As a sensitive child watching Aussie rules exhibition 'friendlies' at the Oval, I remember being being shocked by the violence surrounding this curious sport

But watching it on ESPN in 2010 it all seems rather friendly and sweet

There is a lot less violence in AFL than in the old days - with three umpires a cameras catching just about every indiscretion, players really can't afford to engage in any violent conduct.
