Is it me or is gas prices not going down for a while?

Just like everybody else, Im sick of gas prices going up and down back and forth. For once is there gonna be a time where gas prices just stay low and not go up again? what is causing this to happen and ig Obama wins election, do you guys think that there would be a positive change far as the economy and gas?

Oil is a world commodity.  The reason it fluctuates up and down is because of supply and demand.  Aside from the usual buyers ie. US and Europe, China and India are buying more.  So demand increased faster than supply did causing a surge in the price.  And that coupled with it all happening before July 4th, the busiest driving weekend of the year, of course it was high.  But just like every year, oil is going down after the holiday and now more so because people are driving less.  As for the price staying stagnant, don't hold your breath.  It did for a while a few years ago within a few cents, but I doubt that will happen anymore.  And if Obama gets elected, the opposite will probably happen.  I'd be willing to bet he enacts policies that only increase the price, ie carbon taxes, no drilling (which will work for the longterm), mandatory alternative fuels which are far less efficient).

The gouging goes on, despite the prices being down OVER 20 dollars a barrel for the month of July. It is a sham and we are the victims.
