Question:

Is it me or when slasher fiml, try to explain its monsters, They hurt the movies more ?

It just seem a great horror film are better then you do not fully know the details. when they give details, the follow films of that series do not follow suit.

  1. Indeed. Seeing something lets you know what you're up against. The unknown is MUCH scarier than the known.


  2. Yes, yes, yes and thank you!

    I don't want to relate to the monster.  I want the monster to terrify me, and if he has a backstory and a reason why he *is* a monster, he's not scary.  Just a guy with serious issues.

    Example:  Rob Zombie's Halloween.  Not scary.  We learn why Michael is the way he is (family trouble, picked on ).  Blanded out and not frightening.  It took all the fear factor out of the character.

    Original Halloween.  Michael didn't have a face.  Michael didn't have a motive.  Michael just...killed.  Creepy and wonderful.  Why don't they make em like that anymore?
