Actually, the research says that women are more likely to break up...

it creates problems because the ex then hunts them down and tries to kill them for leaving, leading to high numbers of murders of women by ex male partners

women know on average at least a year before they leave a marriage that it is over and finally give up trying to convince the guy to take notice that there is something very wrong

When I was young I broke up with far more men than broke up with me.  I tended to dump them when I got bored with them, which was often quite soon as I have a very short attention span and get bored very easily.

More women actually break-up.  Men just stop calling.  They like to think that they keep the bridges built, just in case they need to call back for a quickie.
