Is it more efficient 2 leave the AC on in the house all day,or turn it off while at work then back on @ night?

It is cheaper to leave it at one temperature. The more you mess with it the more it will cost.

It cost more to turn it on and off.  Just turn it to a higher setting when you are not going to be home, then when you get in turn it back down. It won't have to work as hard to cool off the house.

Donna's answer is correct.  Just put it on a lower setting if window air set it on higher level for central where it does not come on as often then put it on comfortable setting when at home so it does not have to work twice as hard.Also always make sure to change the filter regularly to keep it from working harder and to extend the life of unit.
