Is it more efficient to ride on a Tire larger than a 13inch?

  1. No, it is not more effcient.  The larger tire adds more wieght to the vehicle, more weight equals more fuel being used.  You should use the tire that your owns manual says to use.  


  2. As a general rule, larger tyres have greater surface area in contact with the road giving higher rolling resistance and less efficiency on that basis. This has to be balanced against other efficiency factors like improved handling by a larger tyre with a lower profile - such as less tyre flex on cornering.

  3. Actually it will take more energy from the engine to turn a larger tire, so no.  It has nothing to do with the weight of the tire.....but gear ratio needed to turn it.  If you put a larger tire on and decrease the profile, you would have the same size overall....which wouldn't change anything unless it was fatter which would cause more drag.
