Is it more expensive to fly near the holidays ?

Because im looking for tickets from ottawa to Las Vegas and it seems to be more expensive near christmas than it would be now.

yep it is! because its cold pretty much everywhere else, more people are looking for warmer getaways....therefore bringing airline prices up. plus, gas prices already have them up.
