Is it much cheaper to buy contact's some other place than at the dr.s? Or are they about the same price?

  1. The Dr's office is usually going to be more expensive than anywhere else.

    You can ask for your prescription and shop around at any optician, who will pretty well always be less .

    Many people buy them online for even less...but that can create problems, because there is no one to turn to if you have problems with the lenses after as far as fit or vision goes.

    As long as you have your prescription, it will be the same lenses, no matter where you get them from.

I actually do billing for a popular chain of optomotrists and I have found that the cheapest places to buy contacts are at wholesale stores like costco or BJ's.  Wal-mart is pretty cheap as well.  They all carry most of the same brands as the dr's office but at a cheaper price.  Just make sure that these stores are in network for you or you can't use your insurance to cover the cost.
