Is it my imagination, or do people seem less happy, less courteous and tolerant?

More inclined to spark to anger & confrontation? I get the feeling when I'm out & about that most folks would rather give me the finger as say hello. And I'm a pretty mellow chick.

  1. I'm old enough to remember a happy and courteous America.  And the more often I travel out of USA, the more I miss it when I come back.

  2. I get that feeling at times too. It's probably because I sleep at near 5 in the morning, and wake up grouchy and see the worst in people.

If you feel that way, perhaps you could take the initiative and better the situation with a geniune smile on your face, and a ready hello. Maybe that would be reciprocated similarly.

  3. We are losing values & ethics as ignorance left civilization in derail rather I don't doubt some of us who are making it healthy to install respect for generations to inheritance as selfishness has caused so called global economy crisis. I doubt how both the rich and poor feels where we are heading with our ignition of norms and custom whilst so called political correctness and equality are spearheading another arena for some to sell cliche for their own gain.

Certain people are just lazy to make the effort for peace and harmony.

  4. Study of survey  shows US is only 23% happy, 42% india, 86% china, it is not your imagination but the truth we can all feel the effect of looting by GOP.

  5. Its not just you. The economy is in a bad place...leaving everyone feeling a lot of stress. Mix that in with normal every day stresses. And whatever else people have going on in thier lives and voila you have anger and depression and conflict.

I do have to say that yesterday I saw there is still hope. I have an uncle who is in the hospital and the easiest way for me to get there with my kids is to take the city bus. So yesterday afternoon we headed to the hospital for the third time this week.  Usually while on the bus people are miserable and that is what we saw the first two times we went on the bus this week. But yesterday it was amazing...people were talking and chatting and being friendly to everyone. If an elderly person got on the bus people would get up and offer their seats without having to be asked to. There was lotso f smiling and comfort on that bus yesterday! And like I said it showed me there is still hope!

  6. I've seen that for quite a while. And I wonder if it isn't the great influx of 3rd world immigrants, legal & illegal, flooding our country. It's quite a clash of cultures these days.

  7. MYOB.
