Is it my imagination or are there NO JOBS available?

I live in Southern California's Inland Empire. Riverside County is having a hiring freeze, as are most of the BIG NAMED places that I have applied (Hilton Co., Macy's etc.). WTF is going on? Is this just my dumb luck or are we heading for a recession?

Memphis is about the same. Even the local Unions are having issues, hubby hasn't worked in 2 months(he is in a Union) and I have been looking for a job for the last 6 months. I think we all need help...and we are IN a recession, I would be more worried about a depression, the number of foreclosures on houses in the US has dramatically increased.

San Diego is looking bad, too. I've been looking for a month now with no luck.

I am right out of college and having a heck of a time even getting an interview. The economy is in big trouble, and for the unemployed (heck, for many employed people too), the future doesn't look very promising. I can sympathize!
