Is it natural for your teeth to lose their whiteness after having braces for 3 years?

Before I got treated my teeth were really white -- without bleaching or using special toothpaste. But I noticed when my braces came off they really gone quite yellowy-grey. Is it normal? Is it just because of the trauma?

  2. definatley normal

  3. Yes, this is normal. Your teeth are susceptible to staining after wearing a brace. Your teeth may return to normal if you brush with a special stain-removing toothpaste (such as smokers toothpaste, even if you don't smoke) but try not to over-do it as these toothpastes can be abrasive to teeth. Otherwise, if it bothers you, you can have professional whitening (the shop-bought whitening kits don't work) which involves visiting your dentist and having a special tray made, which you wear with a whitening gel for about half an hour a day.

You get great results but it is pricey at around £400.
