I have around 10 years of experience in meteorology, was never able to get my bachlor's degree. I wanted to apply for certification to be a certified consulting meteorologist for the public. I have just as much knowledge as a broadcast meteorologist, just don't have the degree. Is it still possible to do this? are there any programs other than storm spotting I can do?

  1. I believe you need to so they know you have a great general knowledge of basic weather and meteorology.

  2. You can apply to be a CCM- the worst they can say is "no."  If you get it, then good for you!  You got what you wanted!

If they say no, at least you tried.

You'll never know unless you try...

  3. According to the AMS, you must have a degree in meteorology or something similar.  Your best bet may be to talk to someone at the AMS and see what you would need to do to qualify.
