  1. Fluent English is not necessary.  But you need to be able to communicate at a basic level.  Simple sentences like "why do you want to live in America" and things like that.

  2. The only reasons you could get away with not being able to speak English would be if you:

    #

    have been residing in the United States subsequent to a lawful admission for permanent residence for periods totaling 15 years or more and are over 55 years of age;

    #

    have been residing in the United States subsequent to a lawful admission for permanent residence for periods totaling 20 years or more and are over 50 years of age; or

    #

    have a medically determinable physical or mental impairment, where the impairment affects the applicant’s ability to learn English.

  3. at least good enough english to be understood by everyone. You will always have an accent and sometimes that may make things difficult.

    I met a women yesterday who spoke good english but her accent was so strong I had a lot of trouble understanding her.

    And when I first arrived in Canada, a lot of people did not understand me because of my accent. I was even told a few times to "come back when you speak better english". English is my first language.

  4. fluent English; fluid is liquid.

  5. You must be able to communicate in English, most Americans are unable to properly place commas in the written language. I am sure this short post of mine has a few errors.

  6. Fluent English skills should be a major requirement!!

  7. If it isn't a requirement, it certainly shoud be. If you can't/ speak the language of the country where you want to live, you should at least learn the language of that country before becoming a citizen.

  8. To help you with your studies, it is "fluent English". Not "fluid english".
