  1. i say no. i learned to ski in about 2 hours when i was in the 5th grade. then i've skiied about 3 times and eventually become pretty good. not athletic good, but good for a missourian.

i suggest a helmet for younger kids.

  2. Def. wear a helmate but dont wear shin guards

  3. u dont want to wear shin guards or knee pads first of all bc then u cant really move properly. the helmet isnt really necessary unless u know u suck and ur gonna fall but when i learned i nvr learned with any of the safety equipment and i never hurt myself. however, if u learn to snowboard i suggest a helmet then but thats a personal choice. i choose not to use a helmet because it bothers me.

  4. You don't have to wear either but you should probably wear a hemet. I've been skiing for 7 years and I still wear a helmet.

  5. If you're snow skiing you do not need knee shin guards because the ski boots cover your ankle and part way up your shin.  A helmet is not a bad idea but is not necessary unless you are speed skiing or falling a lot.  Other than that wear sunscreen and chapstick with sunscreen in it.  Also wear goggles or sunglasses with UV protection because snowblindness sucks.

Oh dress in layers and waterproof your coat and pants, Scotchguard works excellent! Other than that have fun.

  6. you really dont need shin guards but helmet is personal choice and it depends if the mountain your on has quite a few rocks but if it is its not just beginners who need helmets unless u want to crack ur head open

  7. I would reccomend a helmet. However, I don't think you need to wear "knee shin guards". =]
