  1. That depends...do you mean the prescription or the whole thing ?

If you mean the lenses, well it is neccessary to change them when your prescription has changed if you want to see well.

As for the frame...that depends on you and how good the frame still is.

You could hang on to it until it falls apart then need new ones , like...yesterday...

We see that all the time...lol

  2. Your question is a bit too general, but here it goes. If your RX does not change and your glasses are in good shape, no you do not have to change your glasses. If your Rx Changes you should change your glasses. If your glasses are unserviceable you should change your glasses. If you wear glasses, I would reccomend getting an eye exam every year for eye health reasons, even if you do not want to change your glasses. Eye health is about 75% of a thourough exam, your vision is only about 25% of the exam in most offices. Just some FYI....Most people have a change in Rx at least every 2 years. Most frames and lenses under normal wear and tear have about a 2 year life expectancy. So if you last a whole 3 years, you are past the norm for both. But, ultimately it is up to you to decide how you are going to care ofr your own vision.
