Is there a difference than other athletic shoes? She is in 8th grade it is not like she will play very much (there are 24 on her team). Some mom's think it is necessary but sometimes I think they think it will make there daughter play better.

  1. well it depends. if your daughter does get a lot of playing time and decides to play in the future i would invest in a good pair of volleyball shoes. volleyball shoes have a different sole on the bottom and make it easier for your feet to move quickly on the floor, are lighter, and comfortable. if you do decide to buy volleyball shoes make sure she only wears them on the court because the sole is a tad delicate and if she wears on the street or something it might mess up the bottom. if she does this and takes care of them she could use the same shoes for next year or something. but if she doesn't really get a lot of time to play or doesn't plan to do volleyball next year i wouldn't really get volleyball shoes.

  2. No. I play at the club and varsity level in high school, and I don't even wear indoor shoes, just my plain old running shoes, and this works FINE. It is definitely not necessary, will have no difference and is a money grab. Just her regular running shoes will suffice.

  3. As an 8th grader and Volleyball not being a top priority, regular athletic shoes would be OK.  There are advantages to volleyball shoes if she makes VB a higher priority.  At this point the only question about that is whether the team members are good or bad people (not players).  How they treat differences will have a great impact on whether your daughter will accept regular athletic shoes for volleyball or not.

  4. tennis shoes or running shoes are fine. but if she is serious about playing volleyball and plans on playing in high school then i would get her some good volleyball shoes.

  5. I don't see why it would matter. I am sure there might be a better support in the shoes. With jumping and stuff. But unless the couch don't mind and your daughter don't care then go with the normal shoe. But I'm the type that if my kid is going to do a sport then they get the gear that go's with the sport. But really it's all about having fun!

  6. Regular tennis shoes will work fine. The only difference between volleyball shoes and tennis shoes are they are light weight to help to jump higher in the air to spike. But you can ask your coach to show you how to jump properly, so there's no need to waste $80 on useless shoes.

  7. Yes They Do help alot... With stuff like traction to the ground, A flat surface and light... I would recomend the asics indoor gels they are pretty cheep, or mizuno waves go for 60$ to 300 $ made for volleyball.

    Glad to help

  8. S, it is necessary to enable her to play more better.

  9. Don't fall for brand marketing. Unless you're going pro, simple running shoes / sports shoes are good enough. Focus on optimizing the overall training performance rather than just one aspect of the game. Just buy something that will protect your daughter's feet during the game. Simple as that.

  10. No. I'm playing volleyball in school and I know it's not needed. Regular shoes will do.
