Is it necessary to change registration?

Question

Hi, I have to shift my bike from Pune to Hyderabad. I heard from a travel agent that my number will be changed once I get a NOC and move to Hyderabad. He said only then I could pay the road tax of AP. That will be a mess because then I have to repeat the procedure if I am returning to Maharashtra. Additionally, I will have to pay the road tax once again. Is there any provision to retain my MH registration numbers and pay the road tax of AP. What should I do for that?

Hi,

If ur stay is going to beyond three months in new location u have to  pay  new road tax in any state where ever you are going but here is some provision in different State RTO  Rules are there that you can pay a nominal tax for a certain period of time. please browse through www.indiacar.com and search through experienced DGP Dr Paschricha

Hi, Your existing registration along with the NOC is valid usually for 6 months or the period mentioned in HYD RTO. Till then you will not have to pay road tax or anything. But you will have to convert your registration for sure if your staying for long.
