Is it necessary to download windows updates on a daily basis?

When I used windows I wouldn't install their updates because I refused to install anything without them telling me exactly what it was. Eventually I did install updates and some of them ended up borking my system to where I couldn't use the start bar.

Personally I wouldn't ever use windows (or OSX) but if you must, I'd be wary of updates if your system is already working.

No it is not necessary, but try to check for new updates every 1-2 weeks.

No! It's more of a nuisance than anything.

I update every few months or so. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! However, it may patch up some problems that you may not know of or fix security holes to prevent people from hacking your system. If somebody's smart enough to hack your system, what can you do? I try not to put things on my computer that would freak me out if it was stolen. Another thing is that in order to work with some programs and websites, you need to update. If something is not working on your computer, update.
