Right now I'm at a Community College and I'm majoring in Dental Hygiene I know it's usually just a two year program for Dental Hygiene and then you can get a job in it. I did a search on Dental Hygiene jobs and a lot of them just want you to have a associates degree. But I read the Dental Hygiene professional curriculum and you can also get your bachelors of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Would it be better if I did that and went on to a four year college? Would I make more money for that job by doing that or is it just a waste of time?

  1. Admittedly I know little about dental hygiene, but still I can't imagine that 2 extra years in college would be as good as two years experience doing the job.  I'd just go for the 2 year program and then go get a job.  You may start lower than someone with the 4 year degree but after 2 years experience you'll be higher than someone just entering the field (with a 4 year degree) and it won't make any difference at all that you only got the 2 year degree.  Just my opinion.
