  1. I find that a shock absorber really helps me. Some people say it doesn't effect them at all. It really only depends on the person. You should try one with a shock absorber, and one without and see which you like better.

  2. Depends on how you like your racket to feel, but most players would say its not "necessary". However, Ive seen some players who can't play well without a shock absorber, and some that can't play well with one. Almost any type of shock absorber will work. I would play without one for a few days, and then borrow a shock absorber and try playing with it. See what feel you like better.

  3. Well I use a babolat pure drive. which the racket type doesn't always make a difference on to whether or not you need a shock absorber unless it has one built in. But I and my freinds who dig tennis too thought it was wierd how I put a shock absorber on and my game suddenly messed up but when I took it off I could just fine. I think it depends mentally and how much you actually use a shockabsorber. I dont use one yet my freinds do and it didn't give them a edge or anything in the game. I still beat them. But you know just maybe get one from a freind or buy one it doesn't have to be too nice. I heard that rubber bands work too.

So g'luck on that. but if you get one try it for a while then take it off and see if you can tell a difference( note this will truly help against people who hit deep and powerful shots from the baseline).

  4. I find it very helpful to use a shock absorber because it really does absorb some of the shock instead of it shooting up your arm.

I have been playing with them for a while, and when I do not use one I notice my arm is a little bit more sore. Using a absorbers  may also stop a weird pinging noise that may occur when you make contact with the ball. It is just personal preference, not necessary.

  5. i know most people (even some pros) use shock absorbers, but i dont. I dont feel a difference with or without one.
