Is it necessary to have all of these installed on my computer?

When I open up my Uninstall/Change program window, it seems I have several different Adobe Programs installed. Do I really need them all?

Here are the different ones:

Adobe Acrobat - Reader 6.0.2 Update

Adobe Flash Player ActiveX

Adobe Flash Player Plugin

Adobe Reader 6.0.1

Adobe Shockwave Player 11

You don't *need* them but most are required for web pages to display properly or other apps to run.

Adobe Flash Player ActiveX - Flash plugin for IE and application developers (for web pages like youtube or programs that embed flash)

Adobe Flash Player Plugin - Flash plugin for IE and other browsers like Firefox (same as above)

Adobe Reader 6.0.1- Allows you to read PDF files which are common online, usually online user manuals are PDF.

Adobe Acrobat - Reader 6.0.2 Update - Apparently an update for the PDF reader above

Adobe Shockwave Player 11 - Required for a lot of games you find on websites and possibly for other interactive online web pages.

As for the Java ones, that is also required for some web pages and even some programs on your computer.  For example, Limewire uses Java.

Actually you only have reader, which you need to open pdf files-a common format used on the Internet; flash player, which is basically the default format for most web site video and the shockwave player, used more for games..

The Java is all for one application. The runtime environment contains common files used by java programmers, so they do not need to include them in their applications. The other two are as stated, updates to the main java program.

Yes it is a lot of websites use Flash such as Youtube, and gaming sites need Shockwave and Java.

Yes. I all have it in my computer and it is necessary to run your computer smoothly.

Not necessary for computer to run however it they are necessary for viewing websites and other things on the Internet such as videos on youtube etc.
