Is it necessary to have s*x just because you're alive?

Seriously, what's wrong with waiting until you're married or at least financially able to take care of a baby, which is the end result of s*x?

I'm not pro-life by any stretch, but I don't understand why people don't even consider the option of abstinence as a form of birth control.

  1. Education is what's wrong with waiting until you're married or at least financially able to take care of a baby. Conservatives think you should not know the consequences of s*x by not being covered in schools.

  2. You don't need to have s*x simply because you're alive.

However, we shouldn't gloss over the fact that prior to the Industrial Revolution, people got married at much younger ages, and had kids at much younger ages.  Biologically we are very much geared for being sexually active and having kids at age 16-20.

We should not expect a change of society (namely the Industrial Revolution) that requires people to stay in school and develop a career to change our biology.

My perspective is consequently quite different from others.  I think that society needs to change to fit our biological needs rather than have humans adjust our biology to society.  The problem is not that people have s*x, and have children they can't take care of.  The problem is that our society is constructed in a way that prevents them from being able to function at a high level if they have children at an "early" age.

  3. yes

  4. i think some people do consider it (and practice it) but there's no reason why people shouldn't be able to use the birth control that's safe, effective, and easily available...there's nothing wrong with waiting, but please let other people decide whether they want to wait or whether they want to use the bc that's there.

  5. I  see that your main concern is taking care of unexpected  children.

ok, you do understand that we live in 21 century and we have birth control, such as condoms, pills etc etc.

  6. Some people are just irresponsible. We cannot legislate irresponsibility out of existence.

  7. Every body is not Jesus, If they followed him they would have not gone into so many wars.

There are too many war mongers who are pro-life.

  8. Is nothing sacred?  s*x is not a political issue.  Stop trying to make it one. If you want to go live somewhere that has made s*x a political issue, may I suggest China?

  9. s*x is one of the most enjoyable parts of the human experience. What if you never find that perfect person to marry, are you just supposed to go without it forever? What about rich kids who enter adulthood already financially prepared to have a baby, do they have more of a right to have s*x than poor people do? Humans will be humans, if we have the ability to inform people of the risks and how to minimize them why the h**l shouldn't we implement those. Besides s*x has been around a LOT longer than the institution of marriage. Our primate ancestors weren't waiting until marriage to have s*x.

  10. I hate to break this to you, but it IS possible to have s*x AND not have an unwanted pregnancy be the result of it! In fact, I've never been married and I've had s*x PLENTY of times, and I've always taken the necessary precautions to keep from getting pregnant. I have no intention of ever getting married, and I'll be damned if I'm going to resign myself to a life of celibacy!

  11. Totally agree but surely you are aware there is an alternative to abstinence for those who find they desperately need the pleasure of enjoying s*x because they are alive but before  married or financially able t bring up children. That is  masturbation. This can be enjoyed with a partner or by yourself as often as you want it. Relieving any urges that way means no possibility of a baby resulting after enjoying the climax of an o****m. Why can't more enjoy themselves like that until such time as they are ready for babies.

  12. Abstinence?  ahahahaha --

s*x is part of the pleasure of life, and life isn't worth living unless you can savor the pleasures...

I realize that conservatives and religious fundies have "issues" relating to s*x, but I think this explains why so many frustrated folks find the need to invade other countries, start wars and try to CONTROL others.

the fact is, you folks find that your churches fail in their message to dissuade people from s*x, and then, due to the church's failures, expect society to legislate your morality.  I suggest you try to determine why your church messages fail versus trying to get the government to mandate your failed policies.

  13. No it is not and I don't understand why some insist that it is..

  14. Not a bad idea.  I see nothing wrong with it, we're not animals after all.  I think abstinence is just fine if that is your choice.

  15. Liberals say abstinence doesn't work.

  16. Abstinence?  Now that's a little extreme I think.

  17. s*x is a primal instinct.  Were it not, the human race would have died off long ago.  Personal responsibility is the key.  Shame too many people don't practice that.

  18. yes. s*x is part of life.

  19. Umm because you have birth control which is fairly effective so why deny yourself for a slight chance it might go wrong?

  20. It isn't necessary, but it is something humans naturally enjoy. What's wrong with using birth control as a means of birth control? There is really no need to deny yourself a natural part of the human experience.
