Question:

Is it necessary to pre-book flights?

I think a cool way to travel would be to just go to the airport, pick a flight leaving soon in the general direction that you want to go, and see if you can get a ticket. Has anyone tried travelling this way before? If so, what was your experience? Also, would I be able to get any discounts by travelling this way (ie. last-minute seat sales)?

  1. last minute deals are just a way to make u buy! the  closest (to the departure date) you buy the more expensive you get.. at least allow 1 week in advance to get a non refoundable fare which is cheaper but it would be better if you allow 2 weeks

  2. Yes - it's also about 4 times as expensive as booking in advance, because at the airport, they only sell the full-priced, no restrictions fare =]  Business travelers often do this when they know there will be space and the company is paying for it, but they have no time to book in advance.
