  1. not unless the ceiling is higher than you wish it to be.  If there was a garage door, then you will want to patch the ceiling  to remove any holes or marks from the door hanger.


  2. If your garage has a totally open ceiling (exposed rafters or trusses) you will need to put in a new ceiling for the sake of insulation. Otherwise that would be one COLD bedroom :-)  If the garage has a finished ceiling then its really just a matter of aesthetics.
