Question:

Is it negative because I haven't missed my period yet?

I am trying to conceive so I am very impatient right now :) I am having symptoms unlike any period I've had before which makes me think that I am pregnant. However I've taken like 3 early pregnancy tests and they've all been big fat negatives! My period is the kind that doesn't always come on the 28th day of my cycle. The 28th day is tomorrow so TECHNICALLY it's due tomorrow. I would have thought one of those early pregnancy tests would have shown that I was pregnant by now if I am. In a nut shell I just want to know if there is anyone out there that found or know others whose tests do not show positive until sometime after their period is due.

  1. It is very possible that you don't have enough HCG in your system yet. Give it at least 3 more days (because the hormone will triple every 48 to 72 hours if pregnant). If you can wait a whole week.

  2. Pregancy tests work by testing to see how much LH (a hormone) is present in your urine. When you get pregnant your body begins to release this hormone which builds up after time. From the day of conception it takes 2 weeks for enough LH to start showing up in your urine, so doing early tests will more than likely show you a negative result. Don't give up just yet as your negatives may be what is called a 'false negative' where you are actually pregnant but their isn't enough LH present in your urine to show up on a pregnancy test yet.

As you can only get pregnant in a very short space of your cycle (around the 14th day) this may be a day before or a day after depending on the individual, in 14 days time your period whould be due so if you are late this is a good sign that you may be pregnant, however alot influences your period and so being impatient and anx about it arriving will only delay it! Annoying but a fact, so just try to not get worked up and I hope one day you find your 2 blue lines :) x

  3. i took a Hpt at 14 days past ovulation and it came up negative. My doctors also said that it wouldn't surprise them for me to be getting negative hpts at 6 weeks pregnant (2 weeks after my missed period). Even the early testers.

Don't give up hope :) My first positive was at 6 weeks pregnant.

  4. The first two times I got pregnant the test wasn't positive until my period was about a week late.  The third time it showed a positive the day my period should've started.  Wait a few days, and if your period doesn't start, test again.  If again it's negative, with no period, then wait two more days and then test again.  Make sure you're testing in the morning for the best result.  Hope that helps.
