...while your children, 5 and 4 years old, are awake and play around the house, possibly in the yard?

if it is, do you have any links to support the argument?

  1. It only takes a split second for something to happen. Parents need to watch their kids whether they be inside the house or outside. People shouldn't resort to a link to support that, they simply need to use common sense.

  2. I think everyone would agree that children need supervision. Napping would be neglectful. Wouldn't common sense tell you this?

  3. Oh my God.

    Are you kidding me?

This is clearly neglect.  COMMON SENSE supports it!!  Sheesh get enough sleep during the evenings so you can actually be a mother during the day.  I am sure you would think twice if one of your kids was taken right out from under your lazy nose!!

  4. no i think it is being irresponsible

  5. yes, it is absolutely neglect. A 4 or 5 year old need constant supervision. http://www.childwelfare.gov/systemwide/l...

Look under the neglect definition on the child welfare site. It defines neglect as lack of supervision (which is what he is doing if he is napping)

    http://www.enotalone.com/article/9886.ht...

This site defines neglect more in depth and touches on infants and small children who are left without adult supervision.

Good luck. You've got to put a stop to that.

Here is another one on the child welfare site:

  6. ur kids are young and not nearly old enuff to take care of themselves

i wudnt say its neglect, buh it would be considered bad/selfish parenting

  7. Yes, it could be neglect. Four and five year olds are amazing escape artists. And they do NOT act rationally or effectively in an emergency. The five year old will NOT perform the Heimlich on the choking four year old. He will poke with a stick and eventually run for dad when it's clear he or she isn't moving. Drop by any local CPS office and talk to a worker or investigator. They will give you not only what can happen but what has happened right there.

  8. neglect? i don't know, but definitely poor judgement - to let them play around the house while the parent sleeps.

out in the yard - definately, since the children could be laying in the street dead from being hit by a car and the parent would be oblivious.

  9. Yes....you cannot leave young children unsupervised especially outdoors.  I don't need links to support that argument it is simply common sense.  If your ex is doing that and your lawyer doesn't take it seriously then time to find a new lawyer.  That is very dangerous to leave kids that young unsupervised.

  10. Very good question. I DO think it is neglectful. Especially if they are in the yard. A 4 and 5 year old could be in danger just around the house too. I'm sorry I don't have any documentation, but that's my opinion.

  11. They're young to be in the yard alone, but really it depends on how much you trust them not to get in trouble if you leave them alone...I'd say with 4 or 5 year olds you want to have one eye on them at all times.

  12. I agree with kitty kat only towards your ex not you. I actually read your post. He needs to watch the children while in his care, something bad could happen.
