  1. Sure is. But it depends where you go. If you are going to the North it might be a little rainy, but in general October is still warm. My Country is really sunny.

  2. Generally, yes. Early October is especially nice here. After the first couple of weeks we do get some days with fog in northern Italy, but it shouldn't bother you much unless you're driving on the autostrada. Actually, the fog can be really interesting in Venice - you can get some good photos of St Mark's in the morning.

    October isn't as hot or crowded as the peak tourist season. Unless you're coming for the northern beaches, you won't be disappointed. There are literally hundreds of wine & grape, rice, chestnut, and many other similar festivals - the truffle market in Alba is huge. The duck races in San Miniato between Florence and Pisa are interesting. If you're on the Amalfi coast, there's a good art festival in Positano... and of course, the Eurochocolate Festival in Perugia. Some of the exhibits are in the ancient city which is now underground.
