for the bank rep to not verify id (rather "verify the signnature") then leave the log sheet in the room for us (and any other customer) to see. Also the box with all strongbox holders is left alone in this room with you as you get in your deposit box. Is this normal? Is is safe? Is it legal? Who should i report my security concerns to? When my wife asked the bank rep why she did not verify id and left sensitive info in the room with us she claimed to recognize my wife from the drive thru.

  1. Notify the branch manager and it wouldn't hurt to contact the corporate office because local managers rarely do anything about complaints.

  2. I would take my concerns to the Bank Management.  The safe deposit box is one of the biggest liabilities the bank faces and there are strong rules and regulations governing the vault.  People can accuse the vault attendent of anything and cause huge problems.

I was a vault attendent for awhile and we were very careful with paperwork, verification and giving our customers a secure quiet room.  I only gave them the box and nothing else and then I left them alone until they were done with their business.  Report your concerns!

  3. There is no way anyone can get in to your box wih out YOUR specific key. The bank can not even get in to your box with out your key. Unless you lose your key I don't see a reason for you to be concerned about the contents of your box. If you do lose your key then it is wise to contact your bank and have them drill the box and prepare a new set of keys. There is a fee for this, however it is not a fee to the bank it is just a fee to have the box drilled.
