  1. I am not sure if it would be called normal or not...I'm 18, and from the time I was 8 until the present, I have had terrible migraines...and lots of different things bring them on, especially stress. I'm not sure if she is dealing with anything particularly stressful, like any trouble at school or anything? It's really hard to go through, I feel for her. I hope you find out what's wrong soon!!

  2. I would recommend having a thorough medical examination with your family pediatrician and if it is warranted, a neurological examination.

Migraines are not normal for ten year-olds.

  3. i am a bit older and i have migraines almost every single day and so far for me nothing has worked most medicines only worked for like 3 days or just made them worse so i only take a tylenol when my head  starts to hurt when i am tired stressed or ate something that disagrees with me  or i just randomly get them. i think that migraines are also kind of genetic because my mom got them and her mom got them and so on and i have them also it is not uncommon for girls to get them around 9 and way older into like their 40's if not older although there is a tumor that can appear at the base of the brain that can cause migraines and what works better Tylenol or motrin for me motrin makes them worse also i tried botox along the hairline which helps relax the muscles so you don't get migraines

  4. i started getting mine at 5 years old and my daughter who is now 5 is getting them as well.  i did look up the statistics once on childhood migraines.  and it actually is fairly normal for some people to start getting them at an elementary age.  it does happen.  but you're probably right in seeing a neuro.  even if you find out that they aren't due to a head injury, they might could help you treat them.

good luck.  i feel for her...really!

  5. This is so odd. I have a neighbor and I just found out her three year old gets migranes. She sometimes gets them so bad that she will shut herself in a closet and cry because the light is too much for her. After talking to them I found out it is fairly normal for a child to have migranes. They've had MRI's and other tests but are preparing to meet with a nuerologist. So I think you are on the right track!

  6. Migraines can be triggered by different things. My daughter has been getting migraine headaches since she was 8 and my sister started getting them around 10. It's not common but not unheard of either. I know that its tedius but keep a food journal for her and you may find a trigger in one of the foods she is eating. Chocolate or anything with caffeine is what brings on mine. My daughter's is caused by foods also.

  7. Its good you went to the neurologist,  Did he say she had migraines and prescribe her a medication to take care of them.  Did he do a full blood panel on her if not I would go to the pediatrician and have one done.  Another thing is Does she take supplement.  My son did and got migraines and it turned out he was getting to much of one of the vitamin's. I stopped the one a day particular type and gave him only what his body needed and he stopped having them.    You may have to get a full blood panel and find out what her body needs and go from there.

  8. I am not sure if it normal or not, but I was diagnosed with my migraines at the age of 9. My family also has a history of them, so when I started complaining about the light and sounds when my head started to hurt as a child my parents took me to a neurologist, and I was found out to have them. Three times a month is pretty bad, I would definitely have her be seen, or tell her pediatrician about her headaches, they can tell you if she does have them, or at least refer you to one. I was given herbal pills to take as a child to control my migraines for a while, and had to take a diary of things that seem to trigger them so the neurologist could help my parents and I get them under control, which might be done before hand to see what causes hers. I hope that helps. Best wishes.

  9. I've been getting migraines since I was very young; I started getting them frequently when I was eight, and by the time I was a teenager I had a migraine at least once a week. Since I was always able to cure the headaches with either Excedrin or Imitrex, however, I put off going to the doctor for a long time. I did eventually get approved to see a neurologist when I was seventeen, and he advised me to buy this over-the-counter preventative called Migrelief. It's an herbal supplement of feverfew, magnesium, and B vitamins; I take it every day now, and is completely eliminates the headaches--no exaggeration. It is TOTALLY worth it.

I think, however, that the first thing you should do is determine if your daughter is having real migraines or some other kind of headache. If she's experiencing nausea, light sensitivity, fragrance sensitivity, or some other classic symptoms, it's still possible that she's having a dehydration headache or an eye-strain headache, or something else entirely. Try to get her to describe the symptoms of her headaches as specifically as possible, and talk to her pediatrician or a neurologist; they should be able to tell you what kind of headache it is and how to treat it.

Again, if her headaches are classic migraines, I strongly encourage you to look into Migrelief. You can buy it over the internet, and there are absolutely no side effects.

  10. Migraines can be attributed to the change in hormones. She may be having that because her body changing and getting ready to start her periods.

  11. Migraines aren't 'normal' at any age, but yes - children that age can get them. My son started getting them around age five or six, but couldn't express what they were at that age.

He gets classic migraines, with the aura, aversion to light, nausea and vomiting, etc.

Take her to the pediatrician - who can diagnose her properly.

For our son, there was no 'reason' for the migraines - not food or environmental related, for example. They have decreased in frequency as he is now 16 and gets maybe four a year.

  12. I am sorry to hear about you daughter, It can be because of her fall but juts to clarfy it i would take her to the doctors. Ask the doctor if there is any medicene that she can take.

I hope she feels better and once again I am sorry to hear about your daughter.

  13. Well I did have migraines/headaches when I was around that age but not three times a month. It would be a good idea to check up on it.

  14. That is frequent, yes, see a doctor.

  15. ya its O.K im only 12 and I get them?.....................like twice a week?its just all of the stress that she she puts up with at school i hope your daughter is O.K.! but ya its just stress or if u have family problems............there it is?

  16. My 5 year old gets bad migrains, more often in stressful situations.  Although its not good, it is normal, just in case have her checked out with a neurologist.   You never want to take chances.  Good luck

  17. Please speak to her doctor as soon as possible. Only a medical professional can tell you if this is routine never heard  and what it might mean,
