Is it normal for a 2 year old to p**p in his diaper and smear it on the walls?

I babysit for my friend and twice now the two year old has pooped in his diaper and then stuck his hand in there and smeared the p**p on the wall and in his mouth. As well as all over his body. I leave the door open when he is napping but he gets up, doesn't cry or make even a tiny peep so I never know when it's happening. I watch him closely but it seems like I can never catch him right after he goes "potty."

  1. Thank goodness my own daughter never did anything like that, but I've certainly heard of many moms on here whose kids have done that or are currently doing it!  So yes, for some kids it's normal, unfortunately.

  2. My cousin did this once when I babysat. She must have been around that age. Whether it's normal I don't know, but unheard of, no.

  3. Yeppers it's normal...you need to be more dilligent or tell his mom you won't babysit until he is potty trained.

  4. I believe so.  I have had so many of my friends tell me their little ones did this, so it's got to be a typical phase.  My daughter is 15 months and has not done it yet.  I'm praying we'll skip that little adventure!!

  5. Oh, it's a normal stage. My friend's 2 year actually fed it to her 1 year old once, and once we figured out he hadn't gotten into chocolate, well, ewwww. Lol. My brat is 19 months and she does the same thing in her crib, she takes off her diaper and swings it around over her head like a lasso if I don't get her out of her crib right after she wakes up. To him, it's just something else to play with, gross, but true. He'll outgrow it eventually, till then, lots of bath time! Good luck!

  6. My goodness, I must admit I'm shocked.  I'm from a much older generation and kids just didn't do that in my day.  The only time I ever witness anything like that was in a juvenile detention center and these kids were a lot older.  I'm glad my kids are raised and gone because I just could not have tolerated that kind of behavior.
