My daughter is 4 months old and goes cross eyed all the time. Worse than she did when she was born. It was gone for a good month in a half and then came back really bad. At random times too. While I am changing her diaper, just looking into space. One turns in and then sometimes both turn into the bridge of her nose. And its not like shes trying to stare at things because it happens so randomly,.. when there isnt anything to be looking at. Is this normal? Someone told me it was and others are like, watch out for Lazy Eye because it runs in my family. Should I be concerned?

  1. My son had this until he was about 5 months.  Lazy Eye runs in my family so we were pretty concious about this, but it did go away around 5 months.  My pediatrician said we shouldn't worry unless it went past 6 months.  If it still seems to be a problem at 6 months, you can ask your ped about it and they can refer you to a vision specialist.  :)

  2. Call the peditrician.

  3. My daughter did until she was about 3 1/2 months or so. Just to be sure though my pediatrician advised me to see a specialist. They did some tests and determined that her eyes were fine. And by July they should be normal looking. If they aren't normal looking by July or August he said to come back and see him (the specialist). She is 4 1/2 months old and her eyes are tracking wonderfully now.

  4. I've never heard of this as being a common occurrance among babies.  My daughter is 9 months and I've never seen her eyes cross even once.

You should talk to her pedi about this.  They will know the correct answer and whether or not it's something to worry about.

  5. First off...... when babies are newborns it is very normal for them to cross there eyes.  When we were at my sons four month appt.  the doctor asked if he still crossed his eyes.  We said no, because he didn't.... and she said that to watch out for it.... because 4 months shouldn't still be crossing there eyes.  Lazy eye also runs in my husbands family.... So I made my doctor aware of this at my sons first appt.   I would talk to the doctor about this....... its not uncommon.... and although no one would wish for something like that..... it isn't a huge ordeal..... there are many things they can to do to treat this..... and earlier treatment the better.  Don't stress.... but defiently take her to the doctor and state your concerns...... best of luck to you and that babe!

  6. No, it is not normal and you need to call the Ped. immediately.  They will set her up for physical therapy on her eye once or twice a week.

  7. Yes this is very normal.

  8. it generally stops at 3 months, but all children are different. maybe you could show the doctor to be on a safer side.
