My 6 week old baby only does a poo once a day, sometimes he can even miss a day. He drinks cow & gate comfort 1 and has 6oz every 3 hrs during the day. is this normal? should he be going more often?

  1. if his poo is like a hard ball, then he is getting constipated.  You might want to try a different formula.  My daughter had the same problem for the longest time, and then I put her on Nestlea Good Start Supreme (orange label) and she goes like twice a day and it's not too hard.  But it's normal as long as not really hard poo, or if you notice him struggling to p**p.

P.S., no pediatrician will admit it's the formula, for some stupid reason.  But every mother I have talked to with constipation problems, Say the first thing to do is switch the formula.

  2. its very normal. all babies are different but going once a day is perfect for him.

  3. My pediatrician said it's normal for formula fed babies to not poo everyday. My son is formula fed and poos everyday, but as long as your baby isn't straining really hard or screaming and passing very hard stool you probably don't have anything to worry about. If it does worry you, give the doctor a call!

  4. Per my doctor, once the baby hits 4-5 weeks, it is very common for the baby not to p**p everyday.

My son is 8 weeks and he poops 2-3 times a day every other day.

    I would not worry.

  5. Is that a formula name?

My son is 8 weeks, and for the past few weeks, he generally only poops once or twice a day, but he never misses a day.  He might be backed up, you might want to mention it to his doctor.

I think the amount he's eating is pretty good, it's alot, but if he's a big boy, it's fine.  My son eats about that much.

  6. Yup, it's normal, my little one went once every other day for the longest time..now at 4months he goes once a day.

  7. He shouldn't skip a day...ask his doc
