My prov1's are always nicked and scratched after a few holes. I know this is due to their soft cover but for that price wouldnt you think they would be a little more durable? I might be better off buying a much cheaper ball if its going to at least last a whole round.

  1. Yeah it is normal, I go through six+ ProV1's a round, if you want to play somthing similar to it, Try the Titleist NXT Tour balls, slightly cheaper but plays similar and lasts longer.

Otherwise the Srixion ZURC and ZURS also great, including The Nike One Planinum and Black.

Try them out, you won't make a mistake.

  2. If you have the proper golf swing your Pro V1 will neither be nicked or scratched. The ball isn't worn out. It may have lost its sheen and your stellar golf may have punished the ball. Your idea for purchasing cheaper balls is right on the money.

  3. To be honest,  All of the premium balls, to a certain degree, have this same problem.  It is more of a problem for those who are hitting full wedge shots into the green than those hitting say a 5 Iron...but with the softness of covers (though todays balls are a lot more durable than the old balata balls I played when I was young) leads to a lot more scuffing. Your choice in a ball is obviously personal.....play what you like and can afford.

  4. If you are not playing to a single digit handicap you are wasting your money playing a urethane cover ball.  Try the Pinnacle Exception it has the same core but has a Sodium/Zinc cover which is more durable.  Ironically I play this Ball in during the winter here in Oregon.  My summer  ball is either the Callaway i-tour x or the Taylormade TP Black
