It is a f/t and a couple of times now when Stan had struck and constricted the guts come out? I don't remember reading anything about this - could there be a problem with the way I'm heating the mouse?

I get the mice from a reptile breeder - I put it in a bowl of hot water for 10 minutes to thaw it out, dry it off and give it to Stan from a pair of tongs.

  1. yes it is it is how they kill there prey

  2. No, the guts shouldn' be coming out.  They don't eviscerate their prey - thats an accident if it happens.

    The mouse is probably overheated.

  3. umm if thats the probleits the way your thawing the mice.

you should just give it live mice.the guts wont come out and its soo much cooler to watch.

  4. Hi yes its normal, I feed mine defrosted mice as feeding them live ones could do the snake harm.... As long as he is feeding I wouldn't worry about the method in which he chooses to get the mouse inside him. The python is just displaying natural behaviour!
