  1. Yes this is normal. It will hurt for a while until your mouth gets used to the braces. Take a big enough clump of wax to cover the whole bracket and stick it on. Don't shut your mouth and let saliva get on the wax until it's secured on the bracket.

  2. I got braces 5 years ago, and still have problems with the brackets poking me. I had this one spot that really bugged me but it was in the wrong spot to put wax on, so I left it alone. After about a month, the skin around it toughened up (like a callous) and now it doesn't bug me anymore. Just leave it alone, or if it really hurts, suck on some ice, put some numbing stuff on it, or take an aspirin.

  3. Ugh. Braces. Anyways, this is TOTALLY normal until you get more used to the braces (2-3 weeks, approx.)

Did you try drying off the bracket with a tissue or something before applying the wax??? It should help...Anyways, if you did, just remember there can be some tricky spots...just try to leave it alone...you may want to look in some numbing solution or call ur ortho in a few days if it persists.

    Hope this helps!
