Is it normal for a cd reciever to get really hot in the back where its connected?

I dunno maybe im just overreacting lol but when went to mess with the back wiring of the cd player, it seemed really hot to touch, this is normal right?

  1. Usually that rear plate is the heat sink for the built-in amplifier IC, so it's normal for it to get hot when the deck is playing.
