so, following "been there:dont that......'s" reccomendations (about helping the shedding process) i filed a bowl with water and put the snake in, i wanted to let it soak but it wouldnt stay and was really uncomfortable so i just wet it and took him out and when i put it on a towel to dry, and then it pooped. Was that his way of rebelling or did he just have to go?

  1. The water and activity would stimulate a bawl movement. The snake would only like bathing if it chose to itself, because it was placed in water unexpectedly it panicked a little. Most corns don't like being given baths but prefer to soak in their own time. Next time you could try lowering the snake very slowly into the water, tail first, mine generally don't like being given baths either

  2. It will eventally soak in its water bowl but until then mist.In your soaking tub make sure to have luke warm water. If you dont have a rough edged limb or something get one to help during shed.

  3. When you have to soak them, you want really shallow warm water with a towel on the bottom of the tub.  As they crawl over the towel it helps to loosen shed skin.  To prevent this, lightly mist the tank daily during shedding times.  Also providing a large enough water bowl so the entire snake can soak in it is important.

  4. try putting some damp  moss (reptile/pet quality) in a container/hide which will help him shed if his skin is coming off in pieces or is incomplete.

oh- PS-- yes, it can be normal for your snake to dislike soaking. they're all different!

good luck- if his shed doesn't work out, get the help of a herp vet
