Is it normal for a jewelry insurance company to ask for the girl's SS# if you bought it?

I just find it odd and unnecessary. Is this normal?

  1. No. They don't need that information and you are not obligated to give it out.


  2. the only time your SS# is needed is for agencies that report income. so, your bank and your employer need it. no WAY would i give it to an insurance co. they absolutely do NOT need it.

  3. I don't know much about jewelry insurance, but they probably need it because she is the one who will be wearing the ring and would be making the claim if it were damaged, lost of stolen. It's a way to identify the rightful owner.

  4. There is no reason for them to ask for SS#'s.

  5. yes, she's the owner after marriage....and the ring will be in her 'keep'.

  6. Totally normal. It will be her wearing it so they need her info as well.  

  7. Yes of course. She will be the one wearing it and it is hers.

  8. that does seem kind of un necassary... seeing as i'm a girl i dont have any expierecne with that... lol
