I had a leopard gecko for a while and it never let me hold it.. even if i just put my hand in the cage it would hiss and come to try to bite me..

and then i held it it would latch on to my finger .. and it would hurt haha..

is this normal?

i would TRY to hold it regularly but it would just spaz out..

i wasn't being scary or anything..

i would let my hand sit in the cage for a minute and then pick him up and he would freak out..

i didnt make any quick movements..

  1. You may have had an aggressive one!

As lame as I am going to sound -

All leopard geckos have different personalities.

    Mine are both very different.

You just had yourself an aggressive leopard!

It's not totally normal for all of them - but to yours, he was just an aggressive guy.

  2. You may have had a "hot female"= eggs that are incubated at 92F. result in aggressive females. Often these animals are unable to be kept with cagemates and will not breed.

No, that's not typical behavior for a leopard gecko.
