Is it normal for a male/female pigeon to...?

accompany the other pigeon that is sitting on the nest? I have 2 pigeons who have made one of my boxes outside my balcony into a nest. Just now i can see one of them sitting around my balcony near the box, while the other pigeon is on the nest.

Also, how long does it take for the eggs to be layed? They just recently made the nest about 3 days ago, and so far today theyve been sitting on the nest for a long time

Yes one sits on the nest the other forges for food and stays outside the nest to protect it. The hen should lay in about 4-5 days I would think. She will lay one egg a day or every other day. Usually only two. Dont let her see you watching to much or they may leave the nest. :) Also you will see that both parents will take turn laying on the eggs the hen will do most of it but the male dows pitch in. :)
