Is it normal for a snowboard I only have for a year have the edge rust?

Yes, this can happen at any time in a board's life. This usually happens because it was stored wrong, and had some exposure to water, or you just didnt dry it off when you came back from the mountain. Just bring it in to your local shop and have them quick tune your edges.

yea, itll all depends on how often you go and how you store your board. Keep a rag in your car to wipe down the board after using it and keep the edges tuned regularly. Its metal and it will rust so store it well.

You should probably go get it tuned up. After that it should be fine. Get of the excess snow before you put your board away next time
