  1. Well if they really care for the persons well being and they are having a hard time then they might.I had a therapist for my son when he was really down' and she gave us her number in case i needed her....I never called at her home as things never got that crazy thank-God..

  2. Some really care about their patients so they give them their home numbers for emergencies.....Depending on the severity of the patient....Blessings Yahoo

  3. Depends entirely on the therapist.  I have had some who gave me their home phone number so I could call in an emergency and others who chose not to give out home numbers and were only reachable when the clinic they worked at was open -- or through an emergency phone line.  It is generally at the discretion of the therapist.

I will say they usually assume that someone won't abuse the privilege of being given their therapist's home phone number.  The therapist assumes the client will usually only call in a serious or crisis situation.

  4. my therapist gave me her cell phone number and her e-mail so i could talk to her when i needed, so it depends..and my regular doctor calls from his house if he is concern..and they don't need to do this because the hospital they work at is pretty decent size

  5. It's very unprofessional but some do because you never know when the patient needs to talk. If I'm paying you 250 dollars an hour to talk it should be a talkathon all day long.

  6. Of course it is, they're not always at the office.  Don't be afraid to use it if you need to.

They're there to help you, don't forget
