I pierced my own tongue web about 4 days ago and every things fine doesn't hurt not swollen at all. All my friends are jealous and they want one now but I've noticed that i can see like white bits on each side when the barbell goes through and I don't really know if that's normal or not I've kept good eye on it, cleaning it before and after i eat and drink (not alcohol) (:

And please no one go "omg your an idiot" or something like that I just want the answer to the question, Thanks

  1. i would imagine so.  my labret piercing had a white ridge around it on the inside for a couple of months while it was healing.  i was told that it's normal, though.

  2. Hi Ryz cool that you were so brave and able to pierce it yourself.

White bits can be necrotic (dead) tissue.

Or it can be an allergic reaction to impurities in the metal.

Keep it clean and if you get swelling or pain -- well you know what to do!

  3. That is (most likely) simply dead tissue, that your body will eventually slough off.
