  1. how else are they gonna afford that new fleet of Mercedes?

  2. It's not normal for a church to "ask" for 10% - However, it is normal for people to give $$$ to the church. Pat Roberson of 700 Club fame says you should tithe 20%.

  3. it's a choice.  they don't garnish your wages.

  4. Yeah..it's called giving tithes, it's just a way of giving your money to god as a sign of thank you for blessing me with this. It's like showing him love in return cause of all the things he has blessed us wit. So yeah my friend it's normal.

  5. Yes.  You are supposed to give 10% back to God & Jesus (if you have 10% to give away).  It actually goes for the church and preacher mostly.  Yes churches take all you'll give, and they give (to themselves mostly) what they take.  That is the way of it.

  6. If they could, they'd get you scared enough to ask for half.... religions have always existed and extracted $$$ from the most frightened.... scared you'll go to h**l, scared that god won't love you, scared that you are not contributing enough so that the CHURCH can do god's workkkyadyaydaydayya... endless litany in religious history.

  7. well, isn't what they say that you should donate - 10% of your money?

as long as its helping others - then its okay.

  8. According to my sister-in law, the Mormons take a percentage.

  9. I don't know how fellowship church does it.  Most churches don't ask for 10% of your check.  You're just supposed to give.  But that's between you and God, and the church has nothing to do with it.  Consider it this way, He gives you 100%, because all of your abilities you get from Him.  He wakes you up every day and gives you a sound mind.  You wake up EXPECTING to be able to walk and talk, which you need to do to go to work.  You wouldn't be able to do that if he didn't allow you to do it.  He only asks for 10% back.

  10. Who is your pastor? Kenneth Copeland? Creflo Dollar?

Run from that place as fast as you can.

Tithe is voluntary and should come from your heart.

The church cannot "demand" anything from you.

  11. It is called tithing and yes it is normal. It is biblical that we are called to give 10% of what is given to us away to help others. You are under no legal obligation to do that. Many don't or feel they can't. You are also called to be good stewards of your money so make sure you know what the church is doing with it. There are dishonest people (cults) in the world. Although some would disagree with me, I do not give 10% to my church but I make sure that I give 10% somewhere. I have foster children in other countries and missions groups I support as well as making various donations. I do also give to my church. I can tell you one thing, I did not tithe for many years because of fear of not having enough money, but when I did I was amazed at how my blessings grew.

  12. They do at my church 10% of your earnings are supposed to go back to god. I don't really get it I have been in church since I was a baby. I just do it honestly because that is what I was taught. I would like to know more about this also.

  13. No!

    wow, that is just crazy!

    stay away from that place!

  14. LOL

What is God going to do with your money??????

Giving money to the church is a scam.

  15. that all depends. what is it for? and do you feel that it is warranted? I know I pay 10% in tithing and that it is a blessing for me. plus my church( the church of jesus christ of latter day saints) does some amazing things with the money we give in tithing. the tithing goes toward building temples, missionary funds, building churches and stake houses, and toward helping those in need, sending aid to disaster areas, and in general just helping people. It is similar to "passing the plate" you give money so that things can continue to happen because how awful would it be if a church ceased to exist. also I feel good paying tithing because none of our bishops, stake presidents etc. are paid so I know my money is going straight to where it is needed. if all else fails, pray and fast about it and you will be answered.
