Question:

Is it normal for kick serves to mess up your back when you first learn them?

Recently I started attempting to learn a kick serve, and just 2 days ago I finally learned it correctly. However, now my back aches constantly and its really painful to bend backwards, due to me arching my back backwards to hit the topspin.

Is it normal to be sore when you do kick serves? Thanks, anyone who answers.

  1. The back does most of the work in kick serves. But you will soon get the feel of it and your body gets used to the bending. Keep practiving some more and your back would stop complaining

  2. You're probably just not used to working out the muscles in your back.  It should improve after you get used to it and your back gets stronger from it.  If it continues to hurt after awhile, then you probably injured your back, in which case you should get it checked out.
