  1. most cockatiels don't, but hanging upside down won't hurt him.  My Indian Ringneck hating going upside down, but my pineapple conure loves it(I think he is upside down more than right side up.)  Just have fun watching your bird have fun.

  2. Yes, this behavior is very normal! He is just being silly and is playing around. My lorikeet will hang upside down and battle with her toys and bells and my amazon parrot hangs upside down on her perch and flaps her wings to try to get my attention or get me to pick her up. I would theorize that this behavior is signifying emotional health in a bird, since sick or unhappy birds seldom play in this fashion.

Hope you are put at ease by all of our assurance!

I wish you and your 'tiel many years of joy and companionship together!

  3. ya they love to do that my sun conure does it its commen in parrots  and tiels.

  4. Yes it's normal, mine do it allot while I'm misting them with the spray bottle I had one do it yesterday on her swing just because she felt like doing it.

  5. A Cockatiel does this when they sense danger. The wings outstretched is a warning as to how big a threat they are.

Play music very softly and speak softly.

I have read this and found it to be true with all the parrots.
