He has had his cheeks stuffed full of food since about 10 this morning. Is there anyway to get them to get it out?

  1. I'm sure there is a way to get the food out, but I would'nt try to take it out. You see hamsters keep their food in their cheeks to store it for later. My hamster "Buzzwardoo" does that all the time, and it's pefectly normal!

  2. i had to bring my hamster to the vet because her cheeks were so stuffed.im glad we did becuse come to find out peaches had a piece stuck and thats why she couldnt swallow anymore.my daughter and i felt silly when the vet just opened her mouth and took twezzers and pulled the food out.just make sure the food isnt big pieces.thats what was wrong

  3. completely normal

  4. yes becaues its trying to save it for latter thats what my hamster do all the time

  5. my last hamster used to do that too and he was the only one I had...so I don't think it's him keeping it from his brother.  But I'm not a pet therapist :o)

  6. -.-

its deathly normal.  Hamster comes from the german word hamstern which means "to hoard"  I dont think there is a way to get it out but it doesnt matter.

And if you ever find a hamster that doesn't do this, its a miracle =/

  7. lol this sounds so cute. Silly hamster.

  8. This is completely normal. My hamster did that all the time and she didn't have another hamster in the same cage as her. They just want to save the food for later, so they keep it in their cheek pouches to make sure it is safe...

Plus, aren't they really cute when their cheeks are stuffed full?

  9. my hamster carries around a food pellet like a baby hammy.... you wanna talk weird with hammies?? lol... no, its fine for whatever reason he wants to  d this just let him be =]
