Well that happened when i was trying to have her meet another two guinea's. Or do you think she is like that because she has been seperate from guinea pigs for a long time now.

  1. First, were they actually being "totally nice?" And how long exactly is a while? If a guinea pig's teeth are chattering or they are rocking from side to side, they may be getting ready to attack. Most guinea pigs are friendly to other piggies, because they are herd animals. However, they can be territorial, and if they were introduced in your guinea pig's cage or in another area that she goes to often (for example, her usual floor time spot), she could just be protecting her territory. Some guinea pigs are just "anti-social" and prefer to be left alone, although cavies like that are few and far between. If you really want your piggie to be more social or friendlier to these two, you're trying to make them one herd, or you'll be seeing a lot of these guys, give them all a bath together. Not only will it wipe off their scent, but it will also--I hate to say it-- scare them enough so that all former differences will dissapear. Also try putting them all down in a large, enclosed space with veggies in seperate piles or bowls spread out all over, so that they can be distracted from eachother for a while. Also, if you do try this and put them together again, make sure you have a towel ready to throw over them and break up the fighting incase they do fight again.

  2. Yup, my two sows do that, but they love eachother  really

(it may be a sharing problem, likefighting for the best snuggle space)

  3. it must be a girl! sounds a little like backstabbing! lol

  4. Yeah, my two male guinea pigs used to do that. They're fine with each other now but before they used to get along and then all of a sudden they would get into a fight.

  5. Yes my guinea-pigs used to do it, some guinea-pigs get on, some dont, if they just fight then its best to just leave them separate because you dont want to have them both have a scrap together and one of them come out of it seriously hurt.

I know it would be nice to have them all happily together but it just doesnt work like that sometimes...just like how some people dont get on together, so they just stay away from each other.

  6. How did you introduce them? It is best to give them all a "buddy bath" to eliminate each pig's individual smells. Then, put them in a neutral place, like the playpen for floor time. Be sure that any cage or accessory that they will be sharing has been totally cleaned, again to remove an indivdual's smell. Also, make sure there are couple of bowls and bottles to ensure that everyone has enough and that they are not fighting over food and water.

Sometimes, they will have a tiff, even after living together successfully. This tends to happen quite often in adolescents as they vie for dominance. Sows can get pretty grouchy sometimes when they are in heat as well.

  7. Haha ya it can happen. It can happen with any animals.
