Question:

Is it normal for my son to have an erection?

Although embarrassing for me to ask, my 2 children (son 4 and daughter 2) still take the occasional bath together. They were having fun splashing around when i noticed my son had an erection. Is that something to be concerned about or is it normal?

  1. well this is normal in fact male children are born with errections.  At four it's not the same the p***s is reacting most likely to the water or perhaps something touched him, or even just excitement. However it might be a good idea to bath them seperately now has they are getting older, and this is not something you want them doing very much longer.  Children are learning things earlier all the time with all the acess to information that we didnt have.  It is not uncommon today to find kids as young has seven experimenting with just their basic knowledge.  maybe underpants would be a good idea.  but I would stop all together.

  2. its normal...at 4 years old your son isnt aware what the erection is and what its for..

i wouldnt b concerned about it...

  3. What do you propose to do about it?  Do you have some secret way of stopping boys from having spontaneous erections?  If you do, you'll be the hero of teenage boys everywhere!

It's normal, Mom.  So is masturbating, from birth on, in case that was going to be your next question.  Truth be told, your little girl's clitoris will occasionally swell up, too, but you just won't be able to see that.  Just nature's way of "getting ready."  Nothing to worry about, and nothing you can do about it.

  4. its normal it could have been any reason it stood up not just sexual he could he could have been rubbing it and u didnt notice that either so nothing to worry u unless he was a lot older he is fine relax

  5. Yes, this certainly does happen in small boys. They are indeed often spontaneous, yet many would be surprised how soon awareness can factor in (from personal experience). If you happen to notice that it occurs pretty often when the two are paired in a situation like this, it may be a good idea to start separate baths. It's kind of a gray area: While there's no definite, comparable level of sexuality in early childhood as compared to adulthood, stimulation is still highly possible. But as far as the "mechanism" is concerned, he's right on time!

  6. It's normal.  Erections aren't just from sexual excitation.  I remember having them when I was pretty young, and s*x had nothing to do with them nor was it of any interest to me.

  7. You are worrying too much. At 4, a boy is not sexual yet. The erection could happen when the bladder is full, for example.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

  8. its normal. my little bro used to get them when we would bathe together.
