Is it normal for rats to change colors?

My rat is going to be 2 years old in about a month. His head used to be black, but I've noticed recently that it's turning copper-colored. Is it normal?

Another question: How long do rats live? I've seen variations on different places of how long they live. Some say it's 3-5 years, others say it's 2-3 years. Thanks :)

yes as they age they change color a bit

it is not something i have seen before  but i wouldnt worry. rats typically live for 2-3 years

thats perfectly normal just like say  when your 5 your hair might be blonde but when youre 12 it might be brown its the same exact way with my hamster and its not a problem

and rats live from 3-5 1/2 yrs

It's normal. This happened with both of my rats.

Rats can live up to four years +.
